What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is an evidence-based clinical intervention using music as a therapeutic medium. It offers a space for self-expression through music.

You does not need musical skills to benefit from music therapy.

Music Therapy can be beneficial to people of all age. It is particularly accessible to people with limited languages and people who finds it difficult to talk about feelings.

Music Therapy promotes emotional well-being, engagement and relationships building, as well as other developments such as communication skill, social skill, resilience, confidence and self-esteem.

Music Therapy involves you, music and the therapist. The central of music therapy is the therapeutic relationship between you and the therapist, that is established and developed through sessions of interactive musical experience. This relationship plays a vital role in enabling positive change/development to take place within oneself.

Music Therapy takes place on weekly basis. It can be one-to-one or held in group. It can be short-term or long-term. Long-term therapy allows therapeutic relationship to evolve and for long-term changes to take place.
